More Ohr

Der australische Künstler Stelarc hat sich ein drittes Ohr in seinen Unterarm implantiert: “Earlier this year, Stelarc finally found a medical doctor willing to implant a cell-cultivated ear beneath the skin on the artist’s forearm. Stelarc is apparently planning to go through a few more surgeries to give it more definition. “He’s also going to implant a mic inside the ear that will connect to a bluetooth transmitter, so the ear can broadcast audio from the internet wirelessly,” explains former BB guestblogger and sometimes Stelarc collaborator Karen Marcelo.” (1) “Stelarc is an Australian-based performance artist whose work explores and extends the concept of the body and its relationship with technology through human-machine interfaces incorporating medical imaging, prosthetics, robotics, VR systems and the Internet.” (2) Mehr Bilder: hier. It’s very interesting his concept of “obsolet body”, but his empirical projects are pretty weird… We published an entry about this “new ear project” and then I read something about medical problems with the mic. I think it’s not part of the experiment any more.
I’m looking forward to discovering which will be his next innovation…
