Jenkins-Polarbär verursacht Panik

Eigentlich sollten die obdachlosen Polarbären (eine Kooperation mit Greenpeace) von Mark Jenkins auf die drohende Erderwärmung hinweisen – in Washington DC hat aber ein Bär eine so große Panik ausgelöst, dass sogar ein Bombenentschärfer eingeschaltet wurde. “A bomb squad has been called in to take down a “hobo polar bear” that had commuters alarmed outside a train station in the US” (Artikel hier). Feedback von Jenkins zu der Aktion: “We made a series of human-like homeless polar bears and installed them around DC to get people to think about the issue (of melting arctic ice) with more empathy. It seemed people liked them a lot and took pictures of their kids in front of them, etc. but most were removed pretty quickly by the authorities. The first image is one that was met with ill-fate after being deemed a “suspicious package.” So the whole thing ended up have a touch of irony to it when compared to the actual situation.” Video hier, via

wie sieht das eigentlich rechtlich aus — müssen greenpeace/jenkins jetzt die kosten für das entschärfungskommando zahlen, oder ist die polizei selbst schuld, wenn sie so paranoid ist? (oder ziehen sie vielleicht sogar eine terroranklage durch?)

Es sagt einiges über den Zustand einer Gesellschaft, wenn Menschen in lustiger Pelztierverkleidung eine Panik oder sogar Bombenalarm (!) auslösen. Insofern: Zumindest ein Ziel wurde erreicht mit der Aktion, wenn auch nicht das ursprünglich geplante.

someone followed the above link and then commented that the source was FOX News. I added in the comment section 2 additional news sources. It’s real, he was sued and the court found 11 inaccuracies in the movie.
