UBERMORGEN.COM: Superenhanced
UBERMORGEN.COM, “Superenhanced Photoseries”, 2009: “Psychotic events and practices happen unnoticed and slowly over time, to fully accept them we need to acclimatize and familiarize ourselfes with it. Therefore we create images of a 5-year-old and a 2 year-old child detainee – unlawful enemy combatant – in U.S. prisions as well as in Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt or in Guantanamo. They are blindfolded, tortured, interrogated and some of them get killed. Mixing Supermax brightness with blacksite darkness, a unique mix of physical pain with digital interrogation software. We do not emulate reality – our world is staged, superficial and glamourous, but still the user can experience the ubiquitous perversion and go into a supervised shock. We deny the concept of torture as self defense, but we accept it as part of rock culture. Den deutschen Beitrag zur Skulptur schuf der fiktive Künstler Helmut Bauer: Wenn die Licht- und Toneffekte des Gesamtwerks angeschaltet werden, sollen kleine Fahrzeuge über die deutschen Autobahnen rollen. “Und ich kann beim besten Willen kein Hakenkreuz erkennen.” (*)
Der tschechische Künstler David Cerny narrt die ganze EU: “David Cerny, der böse Bube der tschechischen Kunstszene, hat wieder einmal zugeschlagen. Sein schwarzhumoriges Kunstwerk für das EU-Ratsgebäude lässt die Wogen der Empörung hochschlagen, nimmt es doch sämtliche Negativklischees der 27 EU-Nationen schonungslos in einem gigantischen Puzzle aufs Korn.
