Die Spannung steigt, das Voting beginnt! Es gibt wieder über 2000 Einsendungen aus aller Welt, viele bekannte Gesichter Namen – und auch viele neue Kandidaten beim Internationalen Stickeraward 2008! Vorab schon mal zur Info:
Vergesst Christo! Am Freitag, den 3. Oktober feiern wir den Tag des Internationalen Stickers – und werden die FIT – Freie Internationale Tankstelle (Schwedter Str. 262, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin) in einer spektakulären Gruppenperformance mit Stickern verhüllen! Und IHR werdet die Gruppe sein! Unsere jährliche Sticker Awards Ausstellung wird dieses Jahr aus zwei Teilen bestehen: für den ersten Teil haben wir bereits verschiedene Künstler unter den diesjährigen Teilnehmern ausgesucht und werden deren Werke zusammen mit den Gewinnern in der Galerie präsentieren, während die Außenhülle der alten Tankstelle als freie und temporäre Galerie für alle Stickeraktivisten zur grafischen Diskussion geöffnet ist.
Deshalb: Let´s stick together! Kommt vorbei, bringt Eure klebrigen Kunstwerke und kleistert mit – ab dem 29. September verwandelt sich die FIT in eine freie Galerie auf Zeit! Zur Vernissage gibt´s dann natürlich auch wieder eine feierliche Awardshow und die Gewinner des Sticker Awards 2008! Außerdem: ein Vortrag und eine Diskussion mit dem Hamburger Street-Art-Sammler und Kurator Rik Reinking, die Höhepunkte aus vier Jahren Sticker Award, Videokunst, Musik, Drinks – und vor allem Sticker, Sticker und noch mehr Sticker! Und nu auf English, wa: Forget Christo! Friday, the 3rd october we are celebreting a day of the International Sticker and create an Intervention Memorial: we will wrap the FIT Gallery in Berlin – Freie Internationale Tankstelle (Schwedter Str. 262, Prenzlauer Berg) in a spectacular mass performance with stickers. And YOU are the mass performing! Our annual Sticker Awards Exhibition will consist this year of two parts in order to allow us a little more dynamic graphical discussion: one is curated and shows selected works and the winners of this year – and the other part will take place on the surface of the gallery and is open to all street artists during the exhibition.
Hence: Let´s stick together! Drop by, bring your sticky artworks and glue with us – starting from the 29th september the FIT will change into a free and temporary gallery! Mark Quinns “Planet”, 2008, wird gerade im Skulpturen-Park von Chatsworth gezeigt (bis 2. November). Für sein letztes Projekt hat er übrigens eine massive Goldskulptur (52 Kilogramm!) angefertigt – und zwar nach dem Ebenbild von Kate Moss.
Zara Arshad experimentiert an der Schnittstelle Design, Technik und Aktivismus – sehr spannende Projekte, wie zum Beispiel moderne Protestformen: “Guerilla Codes“, eine Protest-Hotline, eine Art Guerilla Gardening Protest oder “Lightwriting”. “The project is called Lighten Up, and is a response to the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA) 2005; this is a law that prohibits protest within a 1km radius around the Houses of Parliament. After discovering that wearing red poppies or red noses within the area was illegal (as it supposedly constituted protest), and that a woman was threatened with arrest for eating a cake that had the word “peace” iced onto it, I became interested in the idea of protest; what it is now and what it can become. This is when I began to explore and design “alternative” methods of protest via the creative. Lighten Up uses long exposure on a digital camera and a light source to capture protest written in the air. The protest is not visible until it is captured on camera, therefore, is the ultimate night-time protest tool to challenge SOCPA (see the video here). The images can also be gathered together for a visual petition. The project forms part of a larger concept called BlackBook Activists and was initiated from an interest in technology and Street Art, especially influenced by Graffiti Research Lab.” Via: Mail
Das italienische “Radical Games Collective” Molleindustria um Paolo Pedercini hat wieder ein neues Spiel veröffentlicht: “The Free Culture Game“. “The Free Culture Game is a game about the struggle between free culture and copyright. Create and defend the common knowledge from the vectorial class. Liberate the passive consumers from the domain of the market.” Und hier gibt’s noch ein kleines Interview mit Paolo: “Es geht darum, Sand in das Getriebe der Popkultur zu streuen, das besondere Potenzial des Mediums zu erforschen – und dabei Spaß zu haben.”
Solche Mails bekomme ich: zwei Bilder, der Betreff “Todesvogel” – und sonst nichts. Vielen Dank, Tom! Ich verstehe zwar nicht ganz, was Du mir damit sagen möchtest – ist das nun eine Drohung oder eher ein Kompliment? – aber auf jeden Fall: Hat was!
