Oh, ich liebe diesen Scheiß! Für seine neue Foto-Serie “Shit”, zu sehen bis zum 15. Oktober in der Pariser Galerie Lambert, hat Andres Serrano den Kot von 66 Tieren fotografiert. Entstanden ist ein lustiges Ratespiel: Ist das nun ein Schaf, ein Huhn oder ein Hund? Und als kleine Überraschung hat Serrano natürlich auch seine eigene Scheiße fotografiert. (Genau: das erste Bild!) “Serrano’s work focuses on universal themes such as bodily fluids, religion, sex and death. In this new series he continues his investigation of bodily functions through brightly colored photographs of excrement produced by a motley of animals. The photographs are formally constructed and demonstrate Serrano’s considerable technical skill while analyzing subject matter that might make some viewers squeamish. Diese wunderbare Typo-Installation von Sagmeister hat mich erst auf diese spannende Amsterdamer Ausstellung gebracht: “Droog Event 2: Urban Play” (ist übrigens Teil dieser Veranstaltung). Der Kurator Scott Burnham hat gute Arbeit geleistet bzw. fleißig rebel:art gelesen – denn die Künstlerliste klingt sehr vertraut. Zum subversiven Aufmarsch der Superlative treffen sich heißgeliebte, alte Bekannte wie Mark Jenkins, Posterchild, Rebar, SpY, Office for Subversive Architecture, Truth, Leon Reid IV, Jason Eppink, You Are Beautiful, Graffiti Research Lab, Joshua Allen Harris – und die restlichen glorreichen Sieben, die ich noch nicht auf dem Blog Schirm hatte, will ich Euch natürlich nicht vorenthalten

Beuys Fettecke in Amsterdam: Stefan Sagmeister und Helfer hatten für die Amsterdamer Ausstellung “Urban Play” aus 250.000 Ein-Eurocent-Münzen den Satz “Obsessions make my life worse and my work better” gelegt. “I had expected a certain ebb and flow to take place within the piece, which is of course the point of the entire Urban Play project, but to have the entire thing completely disappear overnight was more than anyone had expected.” (*) Die Lösung: Die “Freunde und Helfer” hatten die Installation einfach weggefegt und abtransportiert – um sie zu beschützen.
