Und die nächste Porn-Generation aus Frankreich, „la nouvelle porn vague“, hat Deutschland schon seit einiger Zeit erobert: Romance X, Baise Moi!, Das sexuelle Leben der Catherine M. oder die Romane von Michel Houellebecq. “I won’t fuck with you tonight!”, lautet so auch die neue Ausstellung von Boris Hoppek, zu sehen vom 31. März bis zum 25.Mai in der Galerie Heliumcowboy, Hamburg. Seine Videos, Gemälde, Fotografien und Installationen werden sich um Themen wie “Latexpussy” und “Boxen” drehen. Zur Ausstellung erscheint ein Katalog in Form eines Sexheftchens: “LaVagina”. Oliver Munday, Student des “Maryland Institute College of Art”, hat mit “Fire in the Hole!” ein eindrucksvolles, beklemmendes, dreidimensionales Alphabet aus explodierten und verbrannten Spielzeugsoldaten geschaffen. Inspiration? Unterbewusstsein! Freud lässt grüssen: Das amerikanische Trauma “Irak” zeigt seine erste Wirkung. Denn zu Beginn hatte Munday nicht einmal ein politisches Statement im Sinn, wie er in einem Interview mit Speak Up erzählt: “For certain projects I like to make some sort of comment or statement, whether it’s political, social, etc… but with this project it was not like that from the get go. In some ways it probably was the state of war that the U.S. and the world was in that helped me arrive at the idea so quickly.” Aber das Zündeln hat ihm dann richtig Spass gemacht: “There is something very powerful about the figures themselves, the act of creating them was very primal. You can see the effects of the burning. You can really see the scorched edges, and the gradient of browns and greens from the flame, the details of burned plastic are pretty amazing.”

Die Antwort auf Magermodels, Fashion-Victims, Bulimie und die nächste Staffel von Heidis heiterem Modelstadl “Germany´s Next Topmodel”: “In the wake of Madrid’s fashion week controversial ban on underweight models, an the recent publicized death from anorexia of a Latin American model, the fashion industry and the media went into a short lived frenzy of self reflection asking, what is too thin? The proposed ban drew support from only two other countries – Israel and India – while it was flatly rejected by the major world fashion capitals of Paris, London and New York. In a climate where whoever is thinner gets the job, the pressure to be thin is enormous and as these are the women and girls who are relentlessly photographed, they become style role models for a population fascinated by celebrity.” (Pressemeldung)
