Das neue Projekt von Specter wird für Aufregung in der Szene sorgen: Denn für seine “ungewollten Kooperationen” hat der US-Künstler die bestehenden (und fast zerfallenen) Street-Art-Werke anderer Künstler verfremdet – und zwar so gut, dass es Aussenstehenden schwer fällt zwischen “Original” und “Eingriff” zu unterscheiden. “Once again, Specter is messing with people’s heads in an awesome way”, schreibt Vandalog. “For his latest pieces, which he’s calling “sidebusts,” Specter has “collaborated” with various street artists in New York by adding on to work that they had already put up. In the case of the above sidebust of a Swoon poster, the top half of the piece was falling apart and had been partially written over, but Specter brought it back to a state that looks almost like new. So far, Specter has done similar work on street art by Skewville, Bast and Faile.” Ein vergleichbares und ebenso streitbares Projekt kam damals von Mr. Talion in Berlin: “Buy my Street Art“.

Das Buch zum Musical: Am Samstag, 18. September findet in Hamburg ja die Uraufführung von Broncos Musical “Streetart” statt – im Rahmen der Ausstellungsreihe PARASITES – illegal exhibitions. Wer sich jetzt schon mal in das Stück einlesen möchte, um später bei den Songs auch kräftig mitsingen zu können, oder wer’s diesmal nicht nach Hamburg schafft und trotzdem ein schönes Souvenir von der Aktion möchte – oder wem PARASITES einfach gefällt und wer so ein 0-Budget- und 0-Profit-Projekt gerne einmal unterstützen möchte: Ab jetzt kann das “Reclaim”-Bändchen von Bronco für 10 Euro (plus 1,50 für Porto und Verpackung) bestellt werden. Ist eine limitierte Auflage (nur 100 Exemplare!), mit insgesamt 42 Seiten, eine neu editierte Version der Fassung, die erstmals im Buch “Street Art. Legenden zur Straße” erschien; es gibt einen neuen “Turnschuh-Song”, einen “Bonustrack” und ein neues Vorwort von Bronco – außerdem wurde das Büchlein extrem liebevoll gestaltet von Matthias Huebner (Bordfunk). Das Yes Lab der Yes Men fördert subversive Projekte: “The Yes Lab is a series of brainstorms and trainings to help activist groups carry out Yes-Men-style projects on their own. In a typical Yes Lab project, an activist organization will come to the Yes Lab with a target—e.g. Monsanto, or war profiteers, or one of those “too big to fail” banks, or greedy health insurance companies, or a bad government policy—as well as a goal: to affect public debate, push for legislation, embarrass an evildoer, etc. Depending on ability, they will pay a fee to help the Yes Lab keep going. We’ll work with the group to develop the smartest, most effective plan to accomplish it. We’ll help assemble the team from within the group as well as our mailing list, we’ll train folks as necessary, and we’ll check in on the project until it’s successful.” Via

Tagung zum Thema Subversion in Hannover (19. bis 20. März): “Veranstalterin ist eine schon länger praktisch und theoretisch tätige Gruppe, die aus den Studierendenprotesten 2003 in Hannover hervorging und seither im inner- und außeruniversitären Kontext möglicherweise subversive Gesellschaftskritik zu betreiben versucht. Auf der Tagung soll es um eine theoretisch fundierte Selbstreflexion politischer Praxis und einen regen Austausch gehen, weniger um akademische, auf eine breite Öffentlichkeit bedachte Präsentation. Wir freuen uns über jegliche Referatsvorschläge (1 Seite), die bis zum 1.11. bei subversionstagung@gmx.de eintrudeln sollen. Kameravögel von Thomas voor ‘t Hekke und Bas van Oerle: “We thought you might like our graduation project for Utrecht school of the art in the Netherlands. The project we worked on is called panoptICONS and it’s a combination of street art objects and an interactive installation. panoptICONS addresses the fact that we are constantly being watched by surveillance cameras in city centres. The surveillance camera seems to have become a real pest that feeds on our privacy. To represent this, camera birds – city birds with cameras instead of heads – were placed throughout the city centre of Utrecht where they feed on the presence of people. In addition, a camera bird in captivity was displayed to show the feeding process and to make the everyday breach of our privacy more personal and tangible.” Via: Mail, thx!
