Mickey meets Michael: “Mickey Jackson Mouse is the artwork by atelier Alessio Blanco for Walt Disney Company. Created few weeks before Michael Jackson died, it has been acclaimed by critics as a tribute to the great artist. Mickey Mouse was born as anthropomorphic mouse and from its origins until today has evolved to meet the aesthetic taste of a society in constant transformation. Continuing this process, now Mickey Mouse wants to complete his transformation into a man and then turns to plastic surgery. This sets a deal with Mickey and Michael, even for the assonance of names, though we could have never pictured what would happen few day after its creation. The artwork is just intended to be ironic and is assuming a new connotation about the role of plastic surgery in modern society even if the artist never wanted to make a direct reference to the King of Pop.” Vgl. auch das Projekt von Isabelle Graeff: “Fine Cut”.
